For most, “doing what we love” and “loving what we do” are mutually exclusive. Instead, our society must focus upon obtaining work that pays well monetarily, even if it bankrupts the individual’s ultimate goal. The brain does not disengage because it’s exhausted or overworked necessarily. Often times, it fails because we lack the interest needed to drive our passion. While this may be the human condition, and the majority may be sailing along in the same boat, there comes a time when we must grab the oars and row against the tide. Perhaps you will fail. But maybe you’ll succeed. Behold, the element of surprise! Sustain your responsibilities, but not at the expense of your dreams. Just as Ricky Gervais once said, “Mondays are fine. It’s your life that sucks.” Just don’t let the dread suck the life out of you.
